According to the organization plan, the International Fireworks Festival Da Nang DIFF 2026 is identified as an international-scale cultural – tourism event, aiming to continue promoting the image of Da Nang as a leading event – festival destination in the region, while creating momentum to stimulate tourism and services during the summer peak season. The festival also holds special significance as it is linked to the city's new development phase following urban expansion and a regional connectivity vision.
An "unpredictable" competition of 10 fireworks teams from 9 countries
The highlight of DIFF 2026 is the large-scale competition with the participation of 10 fireworks teams from 9 countries and territories, including Vietnam, China, Italy, Germany, Portugal, France, Japan, Macau (China), and Australia. Notably, this festival season marks the participation of 4 first-time teams, promising to bring new and diverse performance styles, enriching the artistic identity of DIFF.
Among them, the two teams representing Vietnam, the Da Nang fireworks team and Z21 Vina Pyrotech, continue to participate, playing a role in connecting local identity with international fireworks styles. The combination of experienced names and first-time "newcomers" is expected to create a competition season rich in discovery, surprise, and emotion.
According to the approved organization plan, DIFF 2026 will take place over 6 competition nights, each night with its own theme, but connected in a unified narrative about the development journey of Da Nang and integration with Quang Nam. The themes will successively explore the city's core values, from nature, heritage, culture to creativity and vision, concluding with the final night "Da Nang - Connected Horizons - Da Nang - United Horizons".
Accordingly, as tradition dictates, the opening night with the theme "Nature" on May 30th will feature a competition between the host team, Da Nang Firework Team, Vietnam, and the China team. Night 2 (June 6th) with the theme "Heritage" between France and the Z121 Vina Pyrotech team, Vietnam. Night 3 (June 13th) with the theme "Culture" will be a competition between the newcomer Japan and the experienced Italian fireworks team at DIFF. Night 4 (June 20th) with the theme "Creativity" between Germany and Macao (China). Night 5 (June 20th) with the theme "Vision" between Australia and Portugal. The final night will take place on July 11th, under the main theme “Da Nang - United Horizons”.
According to many experts, the appearance of two "giants" in the fireworks industry, namely Macao (China) and Japan, will make DIFF 2026 more competitive and thrilling.
This year, the champion team will receive a prize including $20,000, a trophy, and a certificate. The runner-up team will receive $10,000, a trophy, and a certificate. The number of subsidiary prizes includes The Most Popular Team (voted by the audience) receiving $5,000 and a certificate; the Creativity Award includes $5,000 and a certificate; the Promising Team Award includes $5,000 and a certificate.
Technology continues to play a central role in enhancing the audience experience. DIFF 2026 applies Sky AR technology, allowing viewers to interact directly with the fireworks sky and personalize their experience on each device. The Laser LED system projects light onto the Han River and the buildings on both banks, transforming the festival space into a multi-dimensional stage, while real-time audio technology helps the audience fully enjoy the music synchronized with the fireworks, regardless of their position within the event area.
The "beyond the framework" fireworks festival season
More than just a series of fireworks nights, DIFF 2026 is the core of an extended summer festival season, with numerous cultural, artistic, sporting, and entertainment activities organized alongside the event throughout its duration.
It is expected that the city will organize many large-scale, rich, attractive, and highly interactive accompanying activities with the festival. Some notable accompanying festivals include River Fest, Beer Fest, and a series of experiences within the Sun Paradise Land ecosystem, transforming the entire city into a continuous experiential space.
Amidst the vibrant festival flow, Da Nang also offers many exploration suggestions for tourists on days without fireworks. Sun World Ba Na Hills is one of the prominent destinations, where Summer 2026 continues to be vibrant with a Beer Festival, unique art shows, nighttime entertainment activities, and European architectural spaces amidst the clouds.
Besides, familiar yet always new journeys such as strolling along My Khe beach at dawn, exploring Son Tra peninsula, visiting My Son Sanctuary, immersing in the cultural flow at Hoi An ancient town, or simply spending a leisurely afternoon in cafes along the Han River, also contribute to painting a picture of Da Nang harmonizing festival energy with a pleasant pace of life.
