Post-Merger Challenges
Da Nang is standing before a historic opportunity to grow by merging with Quang Nam, becoming the largest city in the country by area. This opportunity brings a manifold increase in geographical scope and tourism resources with 03 world heritage sites and strengths in island and sea tourism, spiritual culture, and mountain and forest resorts, creating a new tourism ecosystem that brings immense development opportunities.
However, this golden opportunity is also accompanied by countless challenges. According to experts, the biggest challenge lies in the brand positioning of "New Da Nang". If a sharp and unified brand strategy is not built, the inherent values, however rich, may cancel each other out, losing the core appeal of Da Nang tourism.

Specifically, to match its new position after the merger, Da Nang needs a new attraction, an international symbol, to create momentum and elevate the entire tourism ecosystem. Mr. Cao Tri Dung, Chairman of the Da Nang Tourism Association, commented: "Da Nang in the new era will need more and more driving projects. We need iconic projects, with images that can be used for media, to quickly reach customers to build the image of Da Nang... more modern, more dynamic, with greater resources, and more unique tourism products".
Besides, the position as the largest city in the country also requires Da Nang to solve an inherent bottleneck: the night economy. Although Da Nang tourism has grown strongly, night entertainment services are still limited, not commensurate with its position as an international tourist center. International tourists, especially high-end resort guests, still lack large-scale, high-class, all-in-one night entertainment venues that operate all night long.

In that context, Da Nang Downtown - a super complex of culture, entertainment, and commercial services invested by Sun Group Corporation, which recently commenced construction, is expected to be one of the "keys" to repositioning the brand and boosting Da Nang's night tourism. “ The commencement of the Da Nang Downtown entertainment complex project in Da Nang promises to bring a new symbol for Da Nang, so that the city has new momentum, new infrastructure in tourism, meeting the increasing demands of domestic and international tourists.” – Mr. Cao Tri Dung assessed.

With an investment scale of nearly 80,000 billion VND and an unprecedented architectural scale, Da Nang Downtown is located in a prime strategic location – in the center of Da Nang City, considered the new heart of the city, easily connecting major traffic routes. From here, residents and tourists will conveniently travel and access services, social security infrastructure, the city's administrative center, My Khe Beach, Da Nang Airport, Da Nang Station, and the future International Financial Center…

This place is also adjacent to famous tourist and cultural attractions in the city center such as: Dragon Bridge, Cham Museum, Love Bridge, Children's Palace, Tien Son Palace, Marble Mountains..., and is also located on the axis connecting Da Nang – Quang Nam – Hoi An, helping tourists easily move to connect diverse experiences.
With the position of "the center of the center", Da Nang Downtown will become the place for the highest level of service enjoyment, when other key projects such as the "River of Light" art lighting project, International Financial Center... become a reality.
The heart of the complex is the 69-story Tower, with a height exceeding 400m - promising to be the second tallest tower in Vietnam and designed to become an architectural icon for the city. This is not only a place for 5-star standard resort and commercial services, but also creates a new brand identity highlight, contributing to repositioning Da Nang's stature on the international tourism and commercial map, alongside major cities with iconic buildings worldwide.

Similar to famous night economy landmark complexes like Marina Bay Sands (Singapore) or Downtown Dubai (UAE), the project is meticulously planned to serve night tourism with diverse experiences, where visitors not only come to play and entertain but also to experience unique culture and cuisine such as: an international standard commercial center, serving all-night shopping; a cultural entertainment park including: a theater of over 9,000 m2 with 4,000 seats, a museum, an exhibition center… This is also the venue for top-tier outdoor art performance shows with the participation of leading world artists, combined with fireworks, illuminating the night economy of the Han River city.

This model helps extend the length of stay and increase tourist spending, contributing to the breakthrough of Da Nang's night tourism, transforming it from a supporting role to a "main pillar" of economic development.

Economically, the project will add an entertainment – commercial – cultural center with various services, contributing to extending the length of stay, increasing tourist spending, and boosting revenue for related service industries. In terms of tourism, this could become a new highlight, helping Da Nang diversify its products, reduce reliance on daytime activities, and enhance competitiveness with other destinations in the region. Furthermore, from a social perspective, the project is expected to create thousands of direct and indirect jobs…”
With all the planned components, Da Nang Downtown is not only the largest entertainment complex in the country but also represents Da Nang's aspiration to rise "post-consolidation", affirming its position as the largest city in Vietnam with a new, worthy tourism icon.
